Privacy

MenuBarShelf is built so you don't have to trust us with anything. We don't operate servers, we don't run analytics, and we don't have a database that could leak.

Data we collect

None. MenuBarShelf does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, usage telemetry, IP addresses, or crash reports of its own.

Permissions we request

MenuBarShelf needs one macOS permission to do its job:

  • Accessibility — required so MenuBarShelf can enumerate the menu bar items currently shown by other apps and forward your clicks to them. All processing happens locally on your Mac. Nothing about your menu bar leaves the device.

You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

Network activity

MenuBarShelf does not phone home, run analytics, or load remote content. The only network request it makes is to fetch the Sparkle appcast feed hosted alongside this website to check whether a newer version is available. That request reveals only your IP address and a generic User-Agent string to the static file host — nothing about your menu bar, your apps, or you.

Children

MenuBarShelf is a developer utility and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we ever update this policy, the date at the top of this page will change and the previous version will remain available in the project's git history.
